Ethiopia, China sign MoU On Prompting Trade, Investment Cooperation

The Ethiopian Finance and Chinese Commerce Ministry signed an MoU with the view of promoting the implementation of the eight major steps of high-quality Belt and Road Cooperation, further deepening their bilateral trade ties.

The finance ministry says the agreement would facilitate the establishment of a working group on promoting unimpeded trade under the China-Ethiopia Joint Commission on raising the quality and level of bilateral trade, investment, and technical cooperation.

Meanwhile, State Minister of Finance Semerta Sewasew also held talks with the visiting China International Development Cooperation Agency or CIDCA’s delegation led by the agency’s Department of Supervision head Cul Jim.

The discussion centered on ways to enhance the overall economic cooperation of the two countries and to monitor the progress of the implementation of the development project financed by CIDCA.

The delegation explained areas of collaboration for Ethiopia by participating in the Global Development Initiative (GDI).

Established in 2021, the GDI aims to support the timely achievement of all 17 SDGs of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by revitalizing global development partnerships and promoting stronger, greener, and healthier global development.

State minister Semereta, on her part, highlighted the overall development activities undertaken in the country and the significant role played by the Government of Ethiopia.

She emphasized the readiness of the government to draw lessons from successful projects and work on ways to further address challenges during the implementation of projects by the two countries.
