Ethiopia, Russia Joint Ministerial Meeting Kicks off in Addis

ADDIS ABABA – The 8th edition of the Ethiopia-Russia Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting has begun discussing areas of cooperation between the two countries today.

The three-day-long discussion focuses on a wide range of bilateral issues of mutual interest including economic, scientific, technical, and trade.

In his opening remarks, Innovation and Technology Minister Belete Mola (Ph.D.) said Ethiopia and Russia have long-standing and historical relations that have passed the test of time.

“Since ancient times, people of our two great countries have enjoyed spiritual and cultural ties that served as the foundation for excellent friendship that flourished over years,” he added.

Evgeniy Petrov, Head of the Russian delegation, on his part, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him and the delegation.

Evgeniy, who is also of Russia’s Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, mentioned that the ties between the two countries have always been based on mutual interest, solidarity, and friendship.

“The joint ministerial commission meeting, in its three consecutive day sessions, will touch upon cooperation between the two nations regarding economic, scientific, technical, social and trade-related issues,” Ethiopia’s foreign ministry said.
