Consultations on Second Economic Reforms Agenda Gets Underway

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Finance ministry held a consultative meeting with representatives of Development Assistance group (DAG) over a newly drafted Homegrown Economic Reforms Agenda II.

Today’s meeting is a part of a series of consultative meetings on the draft development plan scheduled to be held in the coming weeks.

The consultations will “augment the draft reform interventions,” according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), whose officials led the drafting of the second Economic Reforms Agenda.

On Monday, State Minister of Finance Eyob Tekalign conducted the first technical consultation with the Executive Committee of the DA Group, representing key donors.

The discussion was focused on the key pillars and intervention areas of the reforms and the required capabilities and resources for implementation of the reforms in the next three years, says MoF.

“Members of the donor group have appreciated the comprehensiveness and robustness of the reforms and the focus on stability, recovery, and growth,” it adds.

The ministry will hold similar consultative forums with members of the private sector, academia, and heads of agencies and ambassadors of international partners in the coming weeks.
