ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian delegation led by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide held talks with Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monitory Fund (IMF).

The delegation, which also involves governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia Yinager Dessie, is in Washington DC to attend the 2022 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)and the World Bank Group (WBG).

They are also holding several bilateral talks with officials of other countries and international institutions on the sideline of the Spring Meetings.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance said the Ethiopian delegation “had fruitful deliberations” with Managing director Georgieva.

The discussion between the two sides covered a range of issues regarding the Ethiopian economy.

The two sides conferred about the resilience of the Ethiopian economy despite multiple shocks, the ministry said.

The meeting, it said, also discussed “the ongoing economic reforms and partnership with the Fund to strengthen Ethiopia’s economy and address challenges.”

The participants underscored the need to quickly deliver on the G-20 common framework and mobilize resources to support reforms, according to the ministry.
