Authority Awards Road Project Contracts worth 18.2bln Birr
ADDIS ABEBA – The Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) has awarded eight road project contracts to local and foreign firms.
The projects will be built with a total cost of 18.2bln birr, and have total length of more than 692km, according to data released at agreement signing ceremony on Wednesday.
The latest agreements would take the total number of road project contracts the Authority awarded over the past six months to 21.
The roads with a total length of 1, 774km will be executed with outlay of 43.3 billion birr. Officials said the construction cost for 20 of the projects will be covered by the government of Ethiopia.
The remaining one road project will be built with support secured from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and World Bank (WB) and budget allocated by the Ethiopian Government, the ERA said.
