Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia Agree to Boost Cooperate in Energy Sector

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia are keen to strengthen their cooperation in the energy and water sectors.

This was expressed during a meeting the Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa (PhD), held with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Ethiopia at his office on Monday.



During the meeting, the Ministry said the two officials “agreed to work together on water and energy”.

Saudi’s ambassador also expressed his country’s willingness to boost the two countries’ ties, the ministry said in a statement released after the discussion.

“We want to further strengthen the relationship between Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia,” said the Ambassador.
“We will attract Saudi companies to the mining industry and we will work with the government on the situation of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia,” he said, adding “Life in Addis Ababa continued as before”.

“We believe that the problem facing the north will be solved soon,” he said.



The Minister, for his part, thanked the Ambassador for understanding the current situation in Ethiopia.

It would be good for others who want to spread fake news and false information to understand the truth, the minister added.

Habtamu also used to opportunity to thank Saudi Arabia for its $50 million Dollars contribution to Ethiopia’s water sector development.
