Huawei’s Second Round Regional Job Fair Explores Local Talents

ADDIS ABABA – Huawei, a global leader in ICT infrastructure, has continued searching for local talent as it hosted a second-round regional job fair in Bahir Dar on Wednesday.

The first round of regional job fairs was held in Hawassa and Haramaya last month with the goal, the firm said, of providing job opportunities to local residents. 

At Bahir Dar city, Huawei Ethiopia partnered with Mind Solutions PLC (IMS),,, and Bahir Dar University, to organize the job fair.

Graduates from Bahir Dar, Gondar, Enjibara, and Debark Universities were among the attendees of the job fair. The event also saw the company collect resumes from Technical Vocational and Training (TVT) graduates.

“We discussed the job fair with a few of the applicants,” the tech firm said. “They are delighted to be able to submit their resume and connect with Huawei and other companies.”

The applicants also requested Huawei hire more people and increase the number of internship opportunities it provides.

In total, the tech firm said more than 800 resumes were collected – from which the best candidates will be chosen and will be given a chance to join Huawei.

“We welcome recent graduates to gain experience by working as interns in our offices,” Huawei Ethiopia said.

It also said the “best interns” have the “opportunity to work in our company,” which has been working in Ethiopia for more than 20 years.

The first and second regional job fairs were held after under its “In Ethiopia, for Ethiopians’ motto, hosted the second annual handshaking forum at Addis Ababa University in May.

Huawei’s plan this year was to provide internship opportunities to over 300 interns. “We have already accomplished,” the company said on Friday.

A special privilege to students certified from Huawei ICT Academy which the tech firm set up in more than 42 private and public higher education institutions across Ethiopia.

More than 4,700 students are registered and affiliated with ICT academies, as per the current student operation data. Over 610 students from the Amhara region are active and attending online and onsite classes and over 460 students are affiliated with these ICT academies.
