Bahir Dar Univ Graduates 6,115 Students in Various Disciplines

ADDIS ABABA – Bahir Dar University (BDU) on Saturday graduated 6,115 students in undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and spatiality degrees.

At least 1,900 of the 2022 graduates from BDU’s different disciplines and programs including Maritime are female.

The commencement ceremony was attended by families of the graduates, BDU staff, and the diplomatic community including Indonesian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Al Busyra Basnur.

Dr. Friew Tegegn, President of the BDU, extended a congratulatory message to the graduates and their families.

Later in the program, the University conferred upon Abune Ermias, Ethiopian Orthodox Church Archbishop of the North Wollo Diocese, and the legendary athlete Derartu Tulu, President of the Athletics Federation, with honorary doctorate degrees.

The two prominent personalities were honored in recognition of remarkably carrying out their social responsibilities for Ethiopia, the University said.

Apart from Bahir Dar, three other public universities awarded nearly 900 degrees in three separate commandments on Saturday.

Mekdela Amba University graduated 253 including 80 female graduates of Information Science.

At least 356 students, including 15 medical doctors, received their first degrees from Madawalabu University while Jinka University saw its first batch of 260 students graduate.
