Ethiopia Logs 44 New Covid Cases, 67 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has logged 44 more Coronavirus cases in the last twenty-four hours, bringing the confirmed total to 493, 076, the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday evening.

In its Covid-19 report, the Ministry said the recovery count has reached 471, 488 after 67 patients diagnosed with covid-19 recuperated from the disease today.

There are now 14, 015 confirmed active cases in the country, according to the latest update.

It also says one seriously sick covid-19 patient has been discharged from hospital after his conditions improved today.

This has brought the cumulative number of severe cases in Ethiopia down to 13.

The Health Ministry has not also reported zero Coronavirus related fatality in the last 24 hours.

The country last recorded covid deaths ten days ago, on August 14, 2022.

The acute respiratory disease, however, has claimed the lives of 7,571 people since the first death was confirmed on April 5, 2020.

The report also shows that the Covid-19 vaccine drive has remained stagnant with data regarding the campaign staying the same for the last few days.

The East African nation started offering the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens in March 2021.

To date, the nation has administered nearly 52.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. More than 43.1 million people have also received at least two shots of the vaccine.
