Ethiopia Adds 43 New Covid Infections, Zero Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has continued to record zero Covid deaths for nearly two weeks but added 43 new Coronavirus cases on Friday, according to data from the Ministry of health.
In a report issued on Friday evening, the Ministry said no Coronavirus related fatality has been confirmed in the last twenty-four hours.
The nation last logged covid deaths twelve days ago, on August 14 during which two patients passed away due to the virus.
The acute respiratory infection has claimed the lives of 7, 571 people since the first COVID deaths were confirmed in Ethiopia on April 5, 2020.
New cases outnumber recoveries
On Friday, the Ministry has also reported 43 more Coronavirus infections, taking the total to 493, 132.
Only 12 patients have been able to recover from the Covid-19 disease in tge reported period.
The recovery count currently stands at 471, 510, the report shows.
Ethiopia now has 14, 049 confirmed active cases of the Covid-19. At least 12 of them are severely ill and are under medical supervision in hospital.
The Covid-19 vaccine drive has continued to stall with data regarding the campaign staying the same as the previous five consecutive days.
The first Covid-19 vaccine shot was given in Ethiopia in March 2021.
To date, health officials have administered over 52.58 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
More than 43.1 million Ethiopians have also received at least two shots of the vaccine.
