Covid-19: Ethiopia Logs 47 Infections, One Death

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 47 more Covid-19 infections and one related death on Wednesday, a ministry of health report says.

Today’s infections have been identified from close to 5, 900 people tested in the last twenty-four hours, and took the confirmed cases total to 470, 352.



One patient has passed away due to the acute respiratory disease in the reported period, according to Health officials.

This is the first case of fatality that the country has recorded since April 9. The national death toll now stands at 7, 510.

Only 13 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the recovery count 453, 671.

For the first time in a week, the severe cases total has dropped by 6 today. Currently, 15 seriously sick Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in hospitals, the report indicates.

The patients are among 9,169 confirmed active cases in the country.



– Vaccine Drive at standstill –

The Ministry of health has not reported new data regarding the vaccination today as the vaccine drive remains at a standstill in the recent few weeks.

The nation, which started its vaccine drive last year in March, has administered over 29.41 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, so far. Over 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the virus.
