US Envoy Congrats Boeing for Landing Deal to Sell Freighters to Ethiopian

ADDIS ABABA – Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Tracey Jacobson has congratulated US planemaker, Boeing for landing a deal to sell 737-800 freighters to Ethiopian Airlines Group.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires met with a visiting delegation from Boeing in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.

The Ambassador has congratulated them on Boeing’s recent sale of five 777-8 freighters to Ethiopian Airlines, said the US embassy in a brief statement on its official Facebook account.

Last month, the Ethiopian Airlines Group and Boeing signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the intent to purchase five 777-8 Freighters.

The plans are said to be the industry’s newest and most fuel-efficient twin-engine freighter.

The 777-8 Freighters, when delivered, are expected to enable Ethiopian Airlines to meet expanding global cargo demand from its hub in Addis Ababa and position the carrier for long-term sustainable growth.

Ethiopian currently operates nine 777 Freighters, connecting Africa with more than 40 cargo centers throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Americas.
