Second-round Grade of 12 Exam Concluded Peacefully
ADDIS ABABA – The second round of the 2013 academic year Grade 12 national examination has concluded peacefully,said the Ministry of Education on Monday.
Almost 90% of registered students from the academic year already took the university entrance exam in mid-November, 2021.
Security problem, however, forced more than 58, 000 students from Afar, Afar, Benishangul-Gumuz and Oromia regions to miss it.
The Ministry, then, decided to hold a second phase exam as soon as “the circumstances allowed”, and eventually scheduled it for the first week February, 2022.
In a statement today, it said “students who didn’t sit for the exam in 2013 due to invasion of TPLF terrorist group and its allies took the exam in the second round”.
Authorities administered the national exam, otherwise known as Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Certificate Examination, for a week, beginning from Monday, Feb 1, 2022.
And it “was conducted peacefully at 189 examination centers,” said Tefera Feyisa, deputy director the National Educational Assessment and Examination Agency, speaking to on Monday.
In the first round, a total of 545, 381 grade 12 students sat for the exam with more than 16, 000 examiners and 6, 156 supervisors involved.
