ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Gahr Støre, held a phone conversation about strengthening bilateral ties on Monday.
In a Tweet after the discussion, Prime Minister Abiy described his talks with Støre as productive.
“I held a productive phone call with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on a number of issues including deepening ties between our two countries,” Abiy said.
“Ethiopia values it’s long term partnership with Norway,” the PM added.
The phone conversation took place weeks after the Foreign Ministers of the two countries held similar conversations about “recent positive developments that have been taking place in Ethiopia”.
Meanwhile, PM Abiy held discussion with President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, on Monday morning.
The discussion was focused on strengthening bilateral relations and to cooperate on continental issues,” said Abiy, expressing his gratitude for Burundi’s “solidarity with Ethiopia”.
