Italian Logistics, Car Assembly Firms Keen to Invest in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Top officials of two major Italian firms, Rimorchiatori Riuniti Group and GE car Group, said the will visit Ethiopia to explore investment opportunities in logistics and car assembly sectors in the country.



The owners of the Genoa-based companies met with Ethiopian Ambassador to Italy, Demitu Hambissa who briefed them about investment opportunities in Ethiopia on Friday.

In a statement, the Ethiopian embassy in Rome said the two companies want to make a visit to the East African nation soon and assess the investment opportunities in the logistics and car assembly sectors.

Rimorchiatori Riunti Group is a major shipping, logistics and transport company that owns and operates ports across Europe including Italy, Greece, Malta, and UK.

The firm wants to work collaboratively with Ethiopia to best utilize its port options, said the embassy in Rome.



GE car Group described by the embassy as a major car assembly company working with at least eleven global car brands in the assembly sector. The Group is desirous to engage in assembling cars in Ethiopia, the embassy added.
