Ethiopia’s Covid-19 Cases Surpass 400,000

ADDIS ABABA – The Ministry of health has reported 1,864 fresh Covid-19 infections on Monday, bringing the confirmed cases tally in Ethiopia to more than 400, 000.

The fresh cases have been identified from nearly 6300 tests conducted in the past twenty-four, according to the Ministry’s report.



The country has also registered six more Coronavirus-induced fatalities and 404 recoveries in the reported period, bringing the death toll to 6, 904 and recoveries count to 353, 391.

The rise in the daily infection rate has also pushed the severe and active case totals to increase further.

There are now 210 seriously sick Covid-19 patients, receiving medical treatments in hospitals.

They are among the 40, 263 confirmed active cases in the country, the report claims.

To date, Ethiopia, which reported its first case in March last year, has confirmed 400, 560 cases after testing close to 4.06 million people.



Health officials have also continued to push ahead with their national vaccination campaign today.

Close to 17, 000 doses of Covid vaccine have been offered to the public in the last twenty-four, the report indicates.

The East African nation started offering the vaccine to its citizens on March 13, 2021.

Since then, it has administered nearly 10.87 million doses to the public while fully vaccinating a total of 9, 343, 722 people against the virus.
