Textile & Apparel Export Generates $223mln in Five-Month
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s textile and apparel industries exported $223 million products in the first five months of the 2021/22 fiscal year, surpassing the target set for the period.
The sector has already achieved 120% of the target set for the budget year, said Melaku Alebel, Minister of Industry, while speaking to ENA over the weekend.
About 80 medium and large textile and apparel industries exported their products to the international market in the five-month period, according to the Minister.
The performance shows the potential the sector has to be a key player in Ethiopia’s economy, he added.
