ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia reported 1, 545 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 43, 688, data from the Ministry of Health revealed.
The country identified the new positive cases after 18, 778 testes conducted over the past twenty-four hours.
The ministry also recorded additional 17 deaths during the period, pushing the death toll to surpass 700 mark.
Currently, there are 27, 181 active cases in Ethiopia. Of these, 290 are in severe conditions, according to the ministry.
During the period, at least 534 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recoveries to 15, 789.
The east African nation identified its first case in mid March. So far, the country tested 794, 686 individuals for coronavirus and confirmed nearly 43, 700 including 709.
