Ethiopia Logs 82 Covid Cases as Recovery Rate Drops

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia on Friday recorded 83 new Covid-19 cases, the highest daily total health officials reported in three months.

The nation’s previous highest daily infections was registered on February 18, after 259 people tested positive for the virus.

The latest confirmed infections were confirmed from close to 4, 600 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours, says the ministry of health In its report.

The national confirmed total has reached 471, 227.

About 455, 810 of them have regained their full health, reports the ministry, after adding only one recovery on Friday.

Only four covid patients have recovered in the last three days, as per health officials reports.

Meanwhile, country’s severe cases count remains stable. The six severely sick Covid-19 patients are still in hospital. They are among 7, 903 confirmed active cases in the country.

The Ministry has also reported zero confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the last 24-hours in the country where 7, 512 people died due to the virus. The last Covid-induced fatality was reported four days ago.

The vaccination pace has not shown any improvement as the data regarding the campaign stays as the same as the previous day.

Ethiopia has administered close to 29.45mln doses of the Covid-19 vaccine since authorities offered the first vaccine shot to the public in March, 2021.

More than 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, says the report.

The ministry of health is currently under preparation to launch a major vaccine push, starting from the first week of June.
