Addis Ababa Announces Grade 6th Exam Results

ADDIS ABABA – The results for the 6th Grade exam of the 2022/23 academic year have been announced today.

The grade 6th exam was given for the first time this year since the Ministry of Education decided to reintroduce the 6-2-4 education system four years ago.

The regional exam – the first cycle of assessment in Ethiopia’s new education roadmap – saw a total of 73,667 students take it in June.

At least 80.2% of the total students scored 50% and more, Addis Ababa education bureau director Dr. Delalem Mulatu told a press briefing today.

The education bureau has set a 50% as cutoff point for students to pass junior high. Students with disabilities have to score 45% and more to progress to the next class.

The announcement was made days after the bureau disclosed the Grade 8th national exam results –  in which, 70.6% of close to 75,000 students progressed to high school.
