ADDIS ABABA – South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has embarked on a working visit to Ethiopia today.

Foreign Minister Pandor and her delegation arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday afternoon ahead of the Ethiopia-South Africa Joint Ministerial Commission Monday.

The minister will co-chair the 4th Joint Ministerial Commission meeting which will commence on Monday. She will also deliver a lecture at Unisa, under the theme “Science Diplomacy and Innovation in the Reclaiming of Africa’s Intellectual Futures into the Next 150 Years,” her ministry says.

The two countries have long-standing diplomatic relations that date back to anti-colonial and anti-apartheid struggles.

Ethiopia is keen on further strengthening these ties, said Amb Fisseha Shawl, Director General of African Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.

The ministerial meeting was preceded by the Senior experts’ discussions between the two countries on Thursday and Friday.
