Chinese Firm, DMC Trading Sign Deal to Build 5-Star Hotel in Addis
DMC Trading Plc, an Ethiopian private firm, contracted a Chinese Construction company to build a mixed-use building involving a five-star hotel in Addis Ababa.
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and DMC Trading Plc signed the construction project agreement on Saturday.
The plan for a Hotel, mall, and apartment development in the capital represents about a 14.2 billion investment.
The Chinese firm is expected to complete the construction project in a three-and-half-year period.
“Our company selected CCECC due to its successful track record in effectively accomplishing various landmark development projects in Ethiopia,” said Dereje Habtamu, DMC CEO and owner of Trading Plc.
His company’s latest investment will create jobs for many citizens and strengthen the development of the tourism industry in the country.
‘Another landmark for Addis’
CCECC, which entered Ethiopia’s construction sector in 2012, has carried out several development projects across the country including the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway.
The firm’s Ethiopian office General Manager, Guo Chongfeng said CCECC is honored to undertake the construction of this project.
“We will put in all our best talent, people, and equipment,” he said. “I believe it will become a landmark in Addis Ababa.”
CCECC is currently undertaking the China-aided future headquarters of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Addis Ababa.
