Ethiopia Logs 10 Covid Infections, 10 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has today recorded 10 new Coronavirus cases as an equal number of patients recovered from the acute respiratory disease, the Ministry of health reported on Saturday evening.

The figures have brought the nation’s confirmed tally to 493, 142 and recoveries to 471, 520.

Ethiopia now has 14, 049 confirmed active cases of the Covid-19. About 13 of these patients are severely ill and are getting medical treatment in the hospital.

The report also says zero Coronavirus related fatality has been recorded in the last twenty-four hours.

The nation last registered covid deaths twelve days ago, on August 14 during which two patients passed away due to the virus.

The infection has, however, claimed the lives of 7, 571 people since the first Covid deaths were confirmed in Ethiopia on April 5, 2020.

According to the latest update, no vaccine was administered in the country on Saturday as the Covid-19 vaccine drive continued to stall.

The first Covid-19 vaccine shot was given in Ethiopia in March 2021.

Since then, its health officials have offered over 52.58 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

More than 43.1 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus having received at least two shots of the vaccine.
