Govt, Partners Discuss Aligning Resources for Universal Health Coverage

ADDIS ABABA – The government and its development partners have started discussing ways to align resources to attain better results toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Ethiopia.

The private sector and Civil Society organizations are also participating in the three-day-long discussions that began today.

Health Ministry Dr. Lia Tadesse said the meeting kick-started the country-level journey of assessing and planning towards enhanced alignment in Ethiopia.

The discussion intends not only to build on the strengths and identify the gaps in the health sector financing.

“It aims to improve effectiveness and efficiency of aid resources by aligning financial and technical assistance, planning and implementation to achieve better impact towards Universal Health Coverage,” said Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse.

The country-led Alignment Working Group (AWG), currently comprising 12 countries and development partners, was established after the 12th Global Financing Facility (GFF) Investors Group meeting.
