Ethiopia Reports 807 More Covid Cases, Zero Death

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 807 new Covid-19 cases and zero related fatalities on Thursday, a ministry of health report says.

Ethiopia is among the three African nations that are experiencing the fifth wave of the covid pandemic in the past week, during which new cases show an average of 114% increase, according to the African Union CDC report today.

in the past twenty-four hours, Ethiopian health officials say 807 additional people diagnosed with Covid disease which brings the confirmed total to over 482, 000.

It has also added 144 recoveries in the reported period, taking the recovery tally to 457,345.

Two more Covid patients have also been admitted to hospitals today after they become seriously ill.

This has brought the severe cases total to 38, says the report. The patients are among the 17, 167 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia/

The latest report also says the nation sees zero covid disease-related fatalities in the twenty-four hours period and the death toll stays at 7, 518.

With the rise in new and severe cases, health officials are urging all 12 years and older Ethiopians to get the Covid-19 vaccine shots to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.

The nation, which rolled out a third-round immunization campaign last Friday, has administered over 46.5 million doses of the Covid vaccine, to date.

About 1.8 million of them have been offered to the public today, the latest update shows. The number of fully vaccinated people has also increased by 1.47 million to 38.2 million today.

The East African nation started offering the Covid vaccine to its citizens in March 2021.
