Ethiopia Logs 18 New Covid Cases, Zero Deaths 

ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of health has reported 18 new infections of Covid-19 on Friday as Ethiopia continues to see zero related fatalities for more than two weeks.

The latest positive cases have been identified from 3, 153 people tested for Coronavirus in the last twenty-four hours, shows the ministry of health report.

The newly confirmed infections have outnumbered the recoveries reported today after the ministry added only four recoveries on Friday. This has pushed the confirmed cases total to grow by 14 to 7, 468.

One patient has also been discharged from hospital on Friday, says the report. Four severely sick patients are still getting treatment in medical cares.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia has recorded zero Covid-19 disease related fatalities on Friday, extending the number of days without confirmed deaths here to 16.

The last Coronavirus-induced death was reported on April 20, 2022. The national deaths toll still stands at 7, 510.

– Vaccine drive stands still –

No additional data regarding the Covid-19 vaccine has been reported on Friday as the pace of the national vaccine drive continues to stall.

The Health Ministry has administered nearly 29.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine while fully immunizing more than 24.5 million people against the virus.

The Ministry offered the first Covid-19 vaccine a year after the nation confirmed its first Coronavirus case in March, 2020. To date, the country has logged 470, 704 cases and 455, 724 recoveries.
