Ethiopia Names New Women’s Team Coach for African Games

ADDIS ABABA – Yosef Gebrewold has been named as Ethiopia’s women’s Under-20 national team head coach.

The U20 national team will compete in the Final football tournament of the African Games Accra 2023 next month.

The Ethiopian Football Federation says today that it has picked Yosef to prepare the team for the tournament. Yosef currently trains the Ethiopian Women’s Premier League side Arba Minch City.

Eight teams qualified for the Final tournament of the African Games after reaching the fourth qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2022.

Ethiopia is pooled in Group A along with the host Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda. In Group B,  Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and Cameroon will battle for the top two finish to advance in the tournament further.

The Yosef Gebrewold’s Side will also kickstart the competition on March 9, 2024, against Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The 13th edition of the African Games will be held in Ghana, Accra, from 8-24 March 2024.
