Ethiopia Registers 49 Coronavirus Cases, 2 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia registers 49 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and two related fatalities today, a ministry of health report reveals.

The latest positive cases, identified from 4200 tests conducted in the last twenty-four hours, have taken the confirmed total to 468,674.

The national Covid deaths toll has also reached 7,460 after its health officials recorded two more fatalities in the reported period.

The number of severe cases has continued to drop further today.

There are now 86 seriously sick patients of the acute respiratory disease, decreasing by 14 compared to the previous day, shows the report, that puts the active cases tally at 44, 508.

Unlike the previous few days, the rate of recovery has relatively slowed down in the past 24-hours. Only 61 patients have recuperated from the Covid-19, taking the recovery total to more than 416, 800.

The second round vaccine drive, launched fortnights ago, has also continued nationwide.

About 157,130 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given to the public in the reported period, according to the report.

The nation has administered close to 24 million vaccine doses to date.

About 19.6 million people have also been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, the report says.
