Sudan Crisis: AUC Chair Holds ‘Frank’ Talks with Sudanese Officials, CSOs

ADDIS ABABA – The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has concluded his three-day long working visit to Sudan on Monday.

During his visit, the Chairperson met most of the political and social, civil and military actors during his visit, said the African Union on Tuesday.



“The meetings made it possible to consider, in a spirit of openness and frankness, the particularly sensitive situation which threatens the country with serious political, security and economic perils,” said

The discussions covered “all aspects of the situation in the country with frankness and sincerity, including ways and means of solving its complex crisis, so as to ensure the restoration of Constitutional civil”, the AU said.



The Chairperson also met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Sudan and the Troika.

During the visit, the Union said Mahamat reaffirmed AU’s commitment to the solution of African problems by Africans, in close cooperation with international partners, in accordance with an approach respectful of such principles and of the sovereignty of the Sudanese people in dealing with their own affairs.
