Ethiopia Registers 462 More Covid Cases, 8 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 462 new Covid-19 cases and 8 related fatalities on Friday, says a ministry of health report.

The positive infections, confirmed from more than 6,300 tests carried out in the last twenty-four hours, takes the national confirmed cases tally to 464, 383.

Eight more Covid-related fatalities have also been reported in the same period, bringing the death toll to 7, 311.

There are now 60, 975 active cases in the country. At least 313 of them are severely sick and are getting medical attention, the report indicates.

About 731 patients of acute respiratory disease have recuperated on Friday, the ministry reports. The recovery tally now stands at 398,095.

The Ministry of Health is still urging the public to observe the health protocol put in place to prevent themselves from the disease including wearing face masks and getting vaccinated.

Only 513 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the twenty-four hours period, the ministry’s report shows.

The country started offering the vaccine to its citizens on March 13, 2021.

To date, it has given more than 10.97 doses of vaccine to the public while fully vaccinating a total of 9,372, 083 people.
