Ethiopia Gets 6.7mln Doses of Covid Vaccine Support from France

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has received additional 6.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine donation from France through the COVAX mechanism .

“This delivery is part of a global donation of 13 million vaccine doses” with Denmark, Finland Greece, Italy and Sweden with UNICEF support, said the embassy.



The donation, which arrived in Addis Ababa this week, makes Ethiopia the major recipient of France’s vaccine donations among African countries.

Previously , the government of France donates more than a Million Doses of J&J and 843,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines, last year,

The latest donation came in the same week Ethiopia received nearly 1.7 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine support from the government of the United States.



The East African nation, which has so far reported 463, 921 Covid-19 cases and 7,303 related deaths.

Its officials are carrying out a nationwide vaccination campaign starting March 13, 2021.as part of their response to the pandemic.

To date, the country has administered 10,972, 564 doses of vaccine and more than 9.37 million of its citizens are fully vaccinated.
