Coronavirus: Ethiopia Reports 374 New Cases, 8 Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 374 new Covid-19 cases and 8 related additional fatalities on Sunday, says a ministry of health report.
The latest positive infections, confirmed from more than 4, 800 tests carried out in the past twenty-four hours, has taken the confirmed cases total to 462, 107.
The country also recorded 8 more Covid-related fatalities in the reported period, bringing the death toll to 7, 244, the report shows.
There are now 68, 709 confirmed active cases in the country, at least 364 of them are severely sick and are getting medical attention.
As many as 825 patients of acute respiratory disease have recuperated today, taking the recovery tally to 386,152.
The Ministry of Health is still urging the public to observe the health protocol put in place to prevent themselves from the disease including wearing face masks and getting vaccine.
However, the ministry’s report shows the day has passed without administering vaccine in the last 24-hours with the date provided regarding the vaccine drive on the day remains the same as yesterday.
A total of 10,965,479 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been given to the public, says the report that puts the number of fully vaccinated people at nearly 9.37 million.
Ethiopia started offering the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens on March 13 last year – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
