Ethiopia Reports 17 New Cases of COVID-19

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 17 new cases of COVID-19, taking the number of confirmed cases in the country 162.

Laboratories across the nations have conducted 1382 tests in the past twenty-four hours. “Seventeen of them confirmed positive for the virus,” said the ministry of health in a daily report today.

The figure is registered a record number of confirmed cases in a day so far for the country.

Most of the newly confirmed patients (13) were in mandatory quarantine in Afar and Somali regional states after their return from neighboring Djibouti and Somalia, the report indicates.

The remaining four patients are from the Capital, Addis Ababa. They either contacted the virus from previously confirmed patient or their case is under investigation, indicates the ministry’s report.

The report described the patients including two women as Ethiopians with a majority of them being in their twenties.

There are now 63 patients in COVID-19 treatment centers.

Meanwhile, the ministry announces that two patients have recovered from the virus. “That makes the total number of recoveries 93,” said the ministry.
