Coronavirus: Ethiopia Registers 2,316 New Cases, 11 related Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia has registered 3,793 more Covid-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the confirmed tally to 426,656.
In its daily report, the ministry of health said close to 8, 250 tests have been conducted in the last twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases.
In the same period, the country has recorded 11 additional Covid-related fatalities and only 51 recoveries, pushing the death toll to 6,958 and recoveries tally to 355, 507.
There are now 375 severely sick patients of the acute respiratory disease.
The patients are among 64, 189 confirmed active cases in the East African nation, according to the report.
Ethiopia, which confirmed its first case in March, 2020, has reported the highest Covid-19 caseload in the East Africa region after conducting over 4.13 million tests.
Vaccine Drive
Health officials are urging the public to observe the Covid protocols put in place including wearing face masks and social distancing as they push ahead with the national vaccine drive.
To date, the country has administered nearly 10.95 million doses of Covid vaccine nationwide.
Over 20, 100 doses of them have been given to the public in the last twenty-four, shows the Covid report.
The Ministry, which started offering the Covid vaccine this year on March 13, has also fully immunized close to 9.36 million people.
