Ethiopia Records Nearly 4,000 New Covid-19 Infections
ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia’s confirmed Covid-19 cases total exceeded 60,000 after its ministry of health reported 3,998 new infections on Saturday.
Ten more Covid-related fatalities and 410 recoveries have also been recorded in the same day, bringing the death toll to 6,947 and recoveries tally to 355,456.
Currently, there are 337 severely sick Covid-19 patients nationwide, claims the report that puts the national active cases tally at 61, 935.
Ethiopia, which confirmed its first case in March, 2020, has reported the highest Covid-19 caseload in the East Africa region.
Its cumulative case tally currently stands at 424, 340, the report indicates.
Vaccination Push
Health officials are currently carrying out a nationwide vaccination drive while urging the public to observe the Covid protocols put in place including wearing face masks and social distancing.
On Saturday, only 196 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were offered to the public in the country, reveals Covid-19 report.
The East African nation started offering the Covid vaccine on March 13, 2021.
So far, it has administered more than 10.9 million while the number of its fully immunized citizens reach over 9.34 million.
