Ethiopia Reports 2, 323 New Covid Infections
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 2, 323 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the confirmed infections tally to 379, 379, according to a Ministry of health report.
More than 10, 000 people have been tested in the last twenty-four hours to confirm the latest positive infections, indicates the Covid-19 report.
Both the number of tests conducted and the cases identified today are one of the highest in the recent months.
The report also says five more people have died due to the acute respiratory disease in the same period, taking the death toll to 6, 877.
Currently, there are 138 seriously ill Covid-19 patients receiving medical treatments nationwide.
The patients are among 21, 332 confirmed active cases total which is showing an increasing trend as daily infections continue to outnumber recoveries in recent weeks.
About 109 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, according to the report.
The national recoveries count currently stands at 351, 168.
Vaccine Drive
The East African nation has also continued to carry out its vaccine drive today and administered nearly 31, 000 doses of Covid vaccine to the public in the last 24-hours.
The figure has pushed the total doses offered in the country to 10,681,740, the report shows.
Ministry of Health started offering the Covid-19 vaccine in Ethiopia on March 13 – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
To date, close to 9.23 million Ethiopians have been fully inoculated against the virus.
