Over 1, 140 Ethiopian Migrants Repatriated from Saudi Arabia
ADDIS ABABA – At least 1, 146 Ethiopians migrants have been repatriated from Saudi Arabia on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Authorities started repatriating Ethiopians living in difficult situations in the Gulf nation on March 30, with a plan to bring 102,000 citizens there within ‘5 to 11 months’.
Three planes with a combined total of 1, 146 migrants aboard arrived Addis Ababa on Friday, said the Ministry of foreign affairs.
To date, more than 16, 100 Ethiopian migrants have come back to their home land from Saudi Arabia where they were detained for illegal entry.
A national committee composed of 16 government agencies is leading the repatriation process.
