Ethiopia Registers 157 Fresh Covid Case, 3 Related Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s confirmed Covid-19 cases count has reached 372,868 after its ministry of health registered 157 new infections on Friday.
In its report, the ministry said more than 5, 500 people were tested in the past twenty-four hour to identify the latest positive cases.
The ministry has also reported a similar death number for two consecutive days.
Three Covid-19-induced fatalities and 119 recoveries have been recorded on Friday, pushing the national death toll to 6,822 and recoveries total to 350, 191, according to the report.
There are now 169 seriously sick patients, the report reveals, as the severe case tally continues to drop since Saturday. The patients are among 15, 853 active cases at the national level.
Vaccine Drive
The East African nation have continued to push ahead the nationwide vaccination campaign today as well.
In the twenty-four hours period, the country administered a total of 35, 291 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the public, shows the report.
This has pushed the total number of doses given nationally so far to 10, 364, 843.
The government of Ethiopia started providing the Covid-19 vaccine to the public in March, this year. Since then, close to 9 million of its citizens have been fully vaccinated against the disease.
The ongoing campaign involves Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm.
