Ethiopia Reports 478 New Coronavirus Infections, 9 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 478 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and nine-related fatalities on Friday,  reveals the Ministry of health.

The country tested 7, 753 people to identify the latest positive cases in the past twenty-four hours,  says the ministry in its daily Covid-19 report.

The national Covid-19 death toll has also reached 6, 437 after nine more patients died due to the acute respiratory disease in the reported period.

There are now a little over 19, 000 confirmed active cases in the country. Of which, 435 of them are severely sick patients, the report claims.

It also says at least 316 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease, taking the recovery tally to 339, 092.

The East African nation has continued to push ahead with its immunization campaign on Friday.
More than 88, 000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the 24-hours period, reveals report.

Ethiopia started vaccinating its citizens on March 13, 2021. Since then, it has fully vaccinated a total of 3, 464, 375 people against Covid-19 while offering 4,673,027 doses.

The ongoing vaccination campaign, which involves Johnson & Johnson, AstaraZeneca and Sinopharm, targets to inoculate as many as 22 million people against Covid-19 by January.
