ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX) said it has traded commodities worth 3.3 billion birr in its platforms in the month of April.
The exchange said the month of April saw 30,428 tons of coffee transacted making it the top commodity to be traded in the month both terms of volume and value.
Out of the total commodities traded, 41 percent was Coffee which generating 59 percent of the total value of the transactions.
Trade of Ethiopia’s major export item has shown a slight value increase (0. 62 percent) as compared to last year, reads ECX’s statement provided to The Monitor.
It also said 19,436 tons of sesame was transacted for over a billion birr, 19,004 tons of soya bean were traded for 261.6 million birr and 3,888 tons of white pea bean was transacted for 73 million birr during the 21 working days of the month of April.
