Oromia State Council Elects New House Speaker
ADDIS ABABA – The Oromia State council has elected a new speaker of the house as it begins session to form a new regional government on Saturday.
The Council elected Se’ada Abdurhaman to be the house speaker and Isayas Umata as deputy speaker.
The new speaker and her deputy were sworn before the new members of the council.
The meeting started with the blessings of Aba Gedas, traditional leaders, in Addama town.
Those elected for the council in the 6th general election organize government bodies that administer the regional state for the coming five years.
The council is also expected to elect the president and members of the executive committee and other bodies during their ongoing meeting, according to reports.
