Football Federation, Umbro Unveil 21/22 Kits for the Ethiopian National Team

ADDIS ABABA – Football Federation and Umbro on Friday unveiled the 2021/22 home, away and alternate kits of the Ethiopian national football teams.

“We are proud to present the 21/22 home, away and third kits for the Ethiopian national team,” said Umbro, a sportswear and football equipment supplier.

Umbro South Africa agreed with the Football federation to supply match kit, training wear and off-field apparel in April, 2021.

The new offering from Umbro is an ode to the national flag tricolor, with each jersey overlayed with graphics inspired by traditional textile patterning, according the manufacturer.

The home jersey features a series of triangular diagonals in varying shades of green on the front, finished with an emerald collar.

Following suit, the saturated yellow away jersey is covered by an embossed tonal print in the traditional style.

The alternate jersey follows the established theme, with a wagon wheel graphic against a striking crimson background, according to umbro.

All three jerseys are accented with tri-colored sleeve cuffs, Ethiopian flag detail above the hem and are made from a lightweight performance fabric.

“We have prepared the kits in a design palette that is reflective of our national colors, and in patterns that we believe Ethiopians will relate to,” said Isayas Jira, president of Football Federation.

The Federation plans to bring the entire collection to the market, “so our fans will be able to purchase the kits and dress to the hilt during our match days”, Isayas said.

The kits are expected to be worn by the Walia Ibex as they prepare for the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

“We are hugely excited to finally unveil the new Ethiopian kits,” said David Ricketts, CEO at Umbro South Africa.”we look forward to sharing that with Ethiopian football fans around the globe.”

Replica jerseys will be available through the EFF and its affiliated retailers, and globally through Umbro’s e-tail platforms from October 2021, says the supplier .
