Japan Confers Commendations on Ethiopian Veteran Diplomat Konjit
ADDIS ABABA – Japanese Ambassador Ito Takako has congratulated Ethiopian veteran diplomat, Konjit Sinegiorgis, as she conferred Japan’s foreign ministry’s Commendations for 2020.
Ambassador Konjit received the award along with Dr. Yokozeki Yumiko, the Director of UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa, in a ceremony held in Addis Ababa.
Tokyo announced the two won its 2020 Foreign Minister’s Commendations on December 1, last year.
During the ceremony, ITO Takako, Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, conveyed her warm congratulations to Dr. Yokozeki, and acknowledged her extensive experiences in assisting development of curricula and capacity building for teachers in Ethiopia and various other African countries.
She also warmly congratulated Ambassador Konjit and recognised her outstanding contributions to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Africa through the Tokyo International Conference of African Development (TICAD) process.
TICAD was launched in 1993 by the Government of Japan, to promote Africa’s development, peace and security, through the strengthening of relations in multilateral cooperation and partnership.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Kongit expressed her appreciation for the recognition from the Japanese Government.
