Ethiopia Confirms Over 1, 100 New Covid-19 Cases, 9 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded at least 1, 109 more Covid-19 infections and 9 deaths on Sunday, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

To identify the new positive cases, ministry said nearly 6, 500 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours.



A further 9 people have passed away due to covid-19, shows ministry’s daily COVID-19 report, which put the national death toll at 2, 429.

About 436 patients are seriously ill and getting medical treatment in covid-19 hospitals, the report reveals. They are among 25, 207 confirmed active cases in the country.

In the past 24-hours, nearly 715 covid patients have recuperated, bringing the recovery tally in the country to 138, 500, according to the report.

Health officials confirmed Ethiopia’s first coronavirus case on March 13 last year. Since then, they have registered more than 166, 138 infections after testing nearly 2.18mln people.
