Ethiopia Records 268 Additional Covid-19 Cases, One Death
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has confirmed 268 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and one related death on Monday, data from the Ministry of Health shows.
In its daily Covid-19 report, the Ministry said nearly 5, 000 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive infections.
The report also reveals the death of one patient due to health complications linked to virus, bringing the national death toll to 4, 391.
At least 268 Covid patients are currently hospitalized after they became severely ill, the report shows. Their number has grown by 28 as compared to the preceding day.
Similarly, country’s Coronavirus caseload has also continued to increase and reached 12, 746 after the new cases registered today outgrows recoveries.
About 107 patients have recuperated from the acute respiratory disease in the 24-hours period, according to today’s report.
The East African nation confirmed its first Coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has conducted more than 3 million tests to confirm 280, 883 infections.
About 263, 587 of the infected people have already recovered, says Monday’s report.
It also reveals that the East African nation is pushing ahead with its immunization campaign on Monday albeit at smaller rate.
A total of 1, 023 people have been vaccinated against the Covid-19, pushing the number of doses provided in the country to 2, 221, 206, the ministry claims.
Health officials launched the national vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
