Ethiopia Reports 200 New Covid Cases, 5 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA, – Ethiopia has registered 200 new novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Sunday, pushing the confirmed tally to more than 280, 500, ministry of health revealed.

In its daily report, the ministry said a total of 4, 547 people have been tested in the past 24-hours to identify new positive cases.



The ministry also reported five more Covid deaths and 87 more recoveries from the disease, taking the national death toll to 4,390 and recovery count to 263, 587.

Currently, there are 240 severely ill patients who are receiving treatment, claims the ministry’s report that puts the active case tally in the country at 12, 586.

Ethiopia reported its first Coronavirus infection on March 13, last year. To date, it has rested over 3 million people to confirm the 280, 565 cases, according to today’s report.

Health officials have continued to push ahead with their immunization campaign and provided more than 3000 doses on Sunday.

The figure has pushed the total number of vaccine doses provided in Ethiopia to more than 2.22 million.

The East African nation launched the ongoing immunization campaign on March 13 – a week after the country received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
