Dine for Ethiopia: Construction of Wenchi Project Starts

ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has launched the construction of Dine for Ethiopia’s Wenchi project alongside the volcanic lakes of Wenchi and Dendi in central Oromia.

The area is endowed with hot springs and waterfalls and has a legacy of once powerful volcanoes with little infrastructure for tourists.

“The pristine volcanic lakes of Wenchi & Dendi have finally been given the attention they deserve,” PM Abiy said.

The PM launched his Dine For Ethiopia’s Wenchi projec5 on Saturday morning togthee with the president of Oromia regional state, Shimelis Abdissa.

The project “will bring in roads, electricity and enhance telecom services to enable private sector investments”, Abiy added.

The PM’s initiative, Dine For Ethiopia project, has already fund-raised 4.2 billion Birr to cover the cost of the three projects to be constructed, not only in Wench, but also in Amhara region’s Gorgora and SNNP region’s Koysha.

Officials believe the construction of the projects in the three regions would create more job opportunities in addition to enhancing the tourism and service sectors.
