ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s Ministry of Revenues said on Friday it has garnered more than 169.5 billion birr in revenues over the past seven months.
The amount is a little more than the ministry’s target for the period which was 169.4 billion birr while showing 15.5% increase when compared with the same period of the previous year.
According to Revenue Minister Lake Ayalew, the revenues were collected from domestic Tax (104.8bln Br), customs’ duty and tax (64. 5bln Br) and lottery Sales (net income 134mln br).
In Sum, the ministry said it has managed to collect 169,501,789,893 birr during the period.
“The revenue collected in the past 7 months could be considered very good considering the current situation” in the country, said the minister who extended his gratitude for taxpayers who are able to pay their taxes on time “for the benefit and development of their country without hesitation”.
