ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia’s confirmed case tally of Coronavirus exceeds 269, 000 after its health ministry reported 293 new cases on Sunday.
In its daily Covid-19 report, the ministry said about 4, 376 medical tests have been conducted to find the positive cases on the day.
A further 8 people have also lost their lives due to Covid-19 related health complications pushing the national death toll 4, 076.
There are now 36, 359 active cases across the nation, of whom, 495 patients are severely ill, according to the report.
On the same day, health officials said 1, 677 people have recovered from the deadly respiratory disease. To date, 228, 757 people have recovered after contracting coronavirus in the country.
The East Africa Nation has so far conducted more than 2.87mln medical tests and confirmed 269, 194 Covid-19 cases, reported its ministry of health.
Health officials have continued to push forward with their Covid-19 vaccination campaign which began in mid-March.
As of Sunday evening, they have vaccinated more than 1.65mln people vaccine through the existing 6,000 healthcare stations situated in 20,000 localities in more than 1,000 Woredas of the country.
Most of the vaccinations administered are AstraZeneca vaccines. Ethiopia received its first batch of 2.2 million doses of this vaccine from the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility in March, 2021.
