General Birhanu Jula Gets Djibouti’s Top Military Honor
ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia’s Army Chief of Staff, General Birhanu Jula, has been confirmed with Djibouti’s highest military medal on Sunday.
General Birhanu received the medal from the hands of Djibouti’s Army Chief of Staff, General Zekaria Shiek Ibrahim.
The medal is given by the order of the Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh for his effective military leadership in the law enforcement operation in Tigray that concluded on Nov 28, according to reports.
The Djiboutian Army Chief General Ibrahim said that belligerence of the TPLF Clique would have wrecked regional instability if it was not effectively thwarted by the Ethiopian National Defence Force.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed promoted General Birhanu to chief of army a few days after the military operation in Tigray region began on Nov 4, 2020.
General Birhanu has thanked the government of Djibouti for the award bestowed upon him and expressed Ethiopian army’s commitment to secure the regional peace and security.
